St Philip Howard Catholic High School
Welcome to the website for St Philip Howard Catholic High School
St Philip Howard

During the summer break some work to the Gas installation along Barnham Road was begun and is ongoing. The road will reduce to a single carriageway in the area of the junction with Elm Grove South. This is likely to be the case at least until the end of September, although the end date is not fixed. This change is being made today, Thursday 2 September.

The pedestrian crossing near the junction with Elm Grove South will be out of commission. There will be two way traffic lights for road traffic and the time that both sets are at red has been extended to allow time for the children to cross safely at the usual point.  However there will be no green man to show that it is safe to cross. Please could parents/carers let students know to take extra care at this point.

The other impact will be to road traffic along Barnham Road and Elm Grove South. It may be preferable for students to be dropped off in the village and told to use the pedestrian entrance at the back of the school via Gospond Road. Please be aware that there is no vehicle access or turning space in this area.

The information contained herein will be of interest and benefit to parents, pupils, ex-pupils, governors, employees and friends of the school. If you are looking for a Catholic secondary school for your child or a job as a teacher or member of our associate staff you will find something of value on these pages.

St Philip Howard School was founded in 1959 and lies within the Cathedral Deanery of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton. We serve the local community, but ‘local’ includes, Bognor Regis, Arundel, Storrington, Midhurst, Chichester and parts of Littlehampton. We even have pupils from across the County border in Portsmouth.

The school enjoys an excellent reputation, providing a thorough and well-rounded education resulting in excellent examination achievement in terms of raw scores and of value added measures. Our pupils also benefit from being educated in the context of the Catholic Faith and from experiencing the values inherent in a Christian community.

We are a community created by God, redeemed by Jesus and sustained by the Holy Spirit. We are a community small enough for pupils to be known by name and where pupils and staff can encounter the joys and challenges of a supportive school family.

We are happy to share our success with you.
